On the 26th March the team supported the Cardiff Outdoor Group in the running of the annual Three Peaks Trial. On the day team members manned the summit checkpoints on each of the four challenging routes and also provided first aid cover. In a record year, 860 walkers undertook one of the four routes, thankfully in dry conditions. This is the third year that the team has been involved in the event and it is one that we greatly enjoy.
In 2010 £4,766 was raised from the the 48th Three Peaks Trial. This was split between the team and the Elenydd Wilderness Trust to help maintain the remote Ty’n Cornel and Dolgoch Youth Hostels also the National Trust, owners of Sugar Loaf and Skirrid Fawr, for footpath maintenance. The proceeds from the 2011 Three Peaks Trial will again be split between the team, Elenydd Wilderness Trust, National Trust and also the Ruperra Conservation Trust.
On a busy day for the team we also responded to a call out to evacuate a mountain biker with a broken leg from the Sugar Loaf.
