Fundraising is by far the most time consuming element of any charity, and it is no different for the Longtown Mountain Rescue Team.

With limited resources, funds are becoming extremely difficult to come by. Which is why the team have set up their own fundraising team, who aim to co-ordinate the raising of the much needed funds required to enable the team to function.

Saving lives is an expensive business - the manpower is given voluntarily but the necessary equipment, vehicles and general backup, costs money.

Throughout the year the Team raises funds in many different ways including: tin shaking; The Big Black Mountains Challenge - our annual sponsored walk/run; attendance at various shows; presentations to local schools/organizations and events often involving special challenges for team members.

We also receive donations from larger organizations such as British Telecommunications plc. and Halifax Property Services and at a more local level, kind support from local organizations.

Following the the sudden and unplanned replacement of the teams Landrover, due to a training accident, the team now need to review all of their specialist rescue equipment, as much of it is coming to the end of their life span.

Can you help? Do you know someone who can help? Any suggestions?

If you are able to assist then please
